AUX in problem / iPod connectivity

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Happy new owner of a '57 Octy vRS TDI but am having some issues with iPod connectivity! In my Superb I used an iTrip which worked brilliantly - but not so in the Octy :-( When tuning to the FM frequency the iTrip is set to the best result I am getting is a faint sound of the music like a radio station you're not quite tuned into... :(

I thought switching the the AUX connexion would sort it, got an AUX cable, tuned the AUX to the iPod/MP3 player setting, pressed play on the iPOd and only static!!! Very :(

Any thoughts on the way to get up and playing?

Thanks in advance!

Have you checked that Aux is switched on? You'll find a little check box you need to tick in your stereo's setup screen.

Thanks for the advice. I had not checked that. Found my way through the Menu to where you switch the AUX on/off, but it was already on! Tried turning it off and then back on. When I turned it off the static just died, but not joy when I turned it back on. Just more static...

Ta all the same!

You have turned the volume up on the ipod? Simple I know but worth a check. Have you used the docking port at the base of the ipod or the headphone socket? Have you checked headphones to ensure the ipod is working? Does the radio play normal radio stations OK and CDs etc?

Do you not have the AUX plug under the centre armrest?

Yes, my AUX plus is is in the front centre armrest. Yes the iPod is working fine. I have been trying to connect not with the docking base but the the earphones socket. Brought the iPod in the house and plugged into a stereo to isolate the AUX as the problem. Played fine on the house stereo. I have used the other functionalities of the car stereo with no hassle (including radio, MP3 reader, CD Changer, etc).

Any other help would be greatly appreciated!

Try playing around with the amplification when set on "AUX". Use the bottom right menu button at the side of the screen to enter this setting.

For iPod I use on of these 3.5mm to iPod dock connector. Works alot better, although even with a normal 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable I did get something.

Whats the quality of the jack lead your using like? If it's a couple off quid cheapy it could be that. I went through about 3 faulty ones when I first got my Octavia.

I ended up with a quality Belkin lead and haven't had a problem since.
