Fabia vRS Rear Spoiler Removal

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

Greetings from Guernsey!

I have searched everywhere trying to find out how to remove my spoiler on my Mk1 Fabia vRS.

Its completely sun damaged :'(

Is it possible to remove it myself? I might get it re sprayed but im also thinking of maybe coating it in a carbon fibre vinyl, i dont think this would be easy with it still attached to the car!

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Mike.

is your car red by any chance?

if it is and the sun has faded you can bring it back to life, just don't ask me how though i'll leave that to the detailers on the site!

would imagine polishing it would maybe do the trick, but like i say i'm no expert i may well be wrong!

mine is red and done the same thing :'( its going to get detailed soon so hopefully that will sort it

Spoiler is bonded to the body with something like Tiger Seal. Very difficult to remove, without damaging the paint underneath. Best to have it painted on the car. If it's red, you may find it has no clearcoat for some reason.

My black magic spoiler is buggered too, the lacquer has peeled off on one corner, and I can see other spots starting to appear now too. Only way for me is a respray.

Mine's red. Well Pink now. After a wash and some wax it's red again, but only for a week or so.

This used to happen on my MX-5 - an application of T-Cut usually did the trick - except for some reason the door mirrors...

My spoiler was almost matt finish.

Went to foeys house on friday and had a car cleaning session.

I used this---> http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/glazes/poorboys-black-hole/prod_494.html

After just 1 coat it massively improved the look and I think you may find you get similar results

if you give it a try. Works on RED cars too.

Before you spend money on paintshops. Have a £12 punt in this stuff.

I doubt it will disappoint you. It's a great product. It's made my car look newer than

I've ever seen it with such a depth to the colour. 10 out of 10 IMO.

Thanks guys,

No my car isn't red its Black, the spoiler is Matte black looking at the moment though! ill give those products a go.

i had some Black T-Cut lying around, thought i would give it a bash.....

lay it on..... with a bit of pressure..... took it off...... bit of polish...... and BLING! as shiny as the bodywork! did that about 2-3 months ago still shiny starting to show signs of fading..... but still looking good B)

On my RED Fabia VRS I used cutting compound, which is a bit more harsh than 'T'cut.

Then gave it a good waxing, came-up a treat, it shamed me into doing rest of car.LOL

It is only the top layer of paint that has oxidised/ faded, so it's removal will leave a sound next layer of paint to work with.

Seems this is the only plastic panel affected on my car, as front & rear bumpers show no paint fading/degrading.

I had a RED car years ago in the 80's that also I 'T' cut to rid the top layer of paint, then waxed, came up e real treat.

Had similar on SWMBO's red vRS

Used a machine polisher with a black Chemical Guys Hex-Logic pad and a gentle polish.

Then applied 2 coats of their EZ Creme, followed by 2 coats of Jetseal 109 (left 3ins between coats) the 2 coats of Petes 50-50 wax

Voilá, sorted!

Mind you, the whole car had that process at the same time, so it was a tad easier.....

holy thread ressurection....

what would you use to dissolve tiger seal? I'd like to wrap the spoilerbut it will definltely need to be off the car
