Misted headlight

Featured Replies

Hi, one of my FL headlights has misted up, with quite a wet looking mist. Anyone any idea why this happens and how can I dry it out and stop it happening again?...................Dave.

If it is just a 'characteristic' then removing a bulb and blowing warm air in with a hair dryer may sort it. Some cars seem to allow damp air to enter light units via drains etc. My Hyundai did.

You may find that a rubber boot has fallen off the rear of the headlight (if same design as my old Passat). If so get another one fitted.

If there is a persistent problem and no accident damage is visible , it may be a warranty claim.

Not had any problems as yet and am wondering about the effect of the headlight washers on the lens sealant.

Thanks for the reply, had a look today. Next question how do I remove 1 of the bulbs please? I have smallish fingers, bot not that small!......................Dave.

Easiest way is to remove the headlight itself. It's very easy and there are quite a few threads detailing how

If the headlamp is obviously wet and there is droplets of water visible you should be able to get it changed under warranty, if its just misted up you wont get any joy. We changed shed loads on the pre fL for what skoda called "droplets of water and not just misting"its worth trying what you got to loose, good luck. Phil

Have you got xenon headlights if so i let your dealer look at it
