DPF / Sensor issues VRS 170 TDI

Featured Replies

Hi all, I own a 2007 VRS tdi 170, started having major DPF issues about six months ago which, to cut a long story short has resulted in DPF removal and ECU remap. Despite the remap being carried out by JBS Auto Designs in Chesterfield (I was pointed towards these as being one of only a couple of garages know to be able to fully map out the DPF), I'm still having the DPF warning lights coming on on the dash. As a result of a diagnostic check I was pointed to the replacement of the pressure sensor, this has been done only two days ago but the warning light came on again during a short trip of about 80 miles. The light stayed on for about 30 miles and has then gone out again. Has/does anyone know what the problem may be, Im sure its down to a sensor and not the remap.

When did JBS do the remap?

Did you have the Milltek pipe put on?

Did the warning light go out for a while after the remap?

What was the error code from the diagnostic check?

When JBS did a DPF map on my car, I'm pretty sure the pressure sensors were mapped out.

You need to get it scanned again.

Get it scanned but also have you spoken to JBS. It may be something thats been overlooked by them

JBS did the remap only last week. I have spoken to them and they are happy to have another look at it but the remap obviously did not map out the sensors as the guy at JBS said that it could be a faulty pressure sensor when speaking to him over the phone. I was under the impression, and through reading other posts on this forum, that they cannot fully remove the sensors, all they can do is widen the parameters so that they don’t send the car into regen or limp mode given that the DPF has been removed.

I did not have a new pipe fitted at the dpf was just removed from the existing box in the pipe, JBS checked it over before they mapped the car to make sure that it would be OK, they said that the work done to remove the dpf was fine and there were no air leaks.

After having the remap the light did not come on until after around 50 miles or so.

I have ran the car today and covered around 50 miles or so again and no lights have come, even when the light came on the other day the car drove perfectly fine.

i'd be dropping it back into them to see if its registered a fault

What are the chances of the sensor failing of its own accord within 50 miles of having it done? Good old JBS.

i dont believe it lol

Another day, another 50 miles and still no warning light, bizzzzarrrrr. Perhaps the pressure sensor was faulty prior to the remap, despite the warning light coming on just after changing the sensor do you think it may have corrected itself? wishfull thinking perhaps! I have not had chance to get it back to JBS as yet, will probably be next week.

Do you guy's place your bets on a problem with the map or could it be a faulty sensor??
