Speed readout KPH to MPH

Featured Replies

In tips & tricks someone posted the way to access the cimate control settings in order to change the digital readout from KPH to MPH and referred to pressing ECON and air direction button together. On my new Elegance there is no ECON button so does that mean I cannot access the settings to change the digital display to MPH or is there another way of doing so? The analogue speedo doesn't have 30 on the dial so would be good for the digital display to be in MPH.

You are confusing two different things.

On the preFL Octavia with climate control you could press a few buttons and get the digital readout for the climate control to read real speed I believe. This gave the display not on the maxidot but on the screen down by the climate control.

In the FL Octavia like you have it has a different climate control which does not operate like the old one hence you can not do this. The km/h display on the dash screen I do not believe can be change to mph. I thought it was a legal thing due to the speedo not having km/h on it anymore and a requirement to have both mph and km/h displayed. Now there has been at least one thread with someone saying they had seen some option in Maxidot to change this but it had dissappeared. So it may be possible through this but it may not.

edit: The tips and tricks is all about the pre FL Octavia and hence not all of them apply to your FL Octy.

I asked the same question a while back.

The option to change the digital readout from KPH to MPH and back again was definitely a menu option on maxidot when I first got the car but has now disappeared from the menu. The handbook states that it should be there.

I think the legal requirement thing to have both readings visible is a red herring as the wifes Toyota Yaris only shows MPH on its digital speedo, you just press a button and it changes to KPH.

The regulations aren't both at the same time, but must be able to do both. If you have a spedo that only shows mph there must be some other means of displaying kmh.
