Full exhaust or cat back?

Featured Replies

I am looking at getting a new exhaust for my fabia vrs and I'm quite interested in what blueflame have to offer. I'm not particularly interested in power gains more getting a nice sound, so would I be better off with a full system (not including manifold) or just a cat back as it's considerably cheaper? just out of interest does the full system give any noticable power gains or does it have to be done with a remap to get the best out of it?

Thanks

Steve

wont get power gains and even the full blue flame de cat isnt much noisier..

Do you know for a fact that an after market free flowing exhaust system does not give any gains at all? :dull: :wonder:

You will gain 1bhp

i was told by the owner of a well known tuning company beginning with an A and ending in the letter after C that the exhausts did bugger all considering the price....

and lets be honest he lost a potential profit as he stocked miltek systems for my fab

Yeh straight through ftw I 'erd.

Then just pray your turbo don't go ka-boom. :D

usually it will sound more whisltley and a slightly deeper tone, decatting will get you the best gain, couple of bhp and quicker turbo spool up, and i gained some mpg increase too which is a good effect

So basically if I want to just get abit more noise may aswell just go for a cat back then as it's cheaper. Mite even be able to keep it clean and shiny aswell as the previous owner of my fab obviously didn't clean the crome tip very often as mine is stained with soot and all pitted so it's doesn't clean up very well.

Blueflame cat back isn't really any louder than OE tailpipe.

That's the reason I bought mine apart from the look of it, .

Does clean up nice and easily though, I can get my hand inside mine. :D

Maybe a slightly deeper tone and more turbo whoosh but that's it.

Maybe de-catted it would sound different??

I'm going to get my local stainless place to fabricate me an exhaust. Except I will just be having a 6x4" tailpipe, and no back box whatsoever! The cat will stay in place though.

Search 'mufflerectomy' in google  Only thing is some have been de-catted as well which is even louder again, hard to find one with just the back box chopped out on its own.

Post a vid if poss when you do  , Im undecided on "save the enviroment, but be v noisy" or "screw the environment and little less noise" :D (decat or demuff).

I have a scorpion cat back and its sounds OEM until 3K then gives a deeper rasp, it has been described as paper ripping..... As mentioned, cleans up really well and i like the single tail pipe look. I think it finishes the car off nicely and gives an added sound when needed but is in no way intrusive or chav when driving normally.
