Download problems

Featured Replies

I have downloaded 120 songs from limewire size 317 MB, and cannot get them all to load onto a 2 gig SD card

I am running windows 7 home

What am I doing wrong, in music I select all and then send to removable media when I try the card in my RNS 501 it only shows around 20 songs

I did the same around 2 months ago and it worked ok

Is it a new SD card? If so, where was it purchased from?

Also, rather than send to SD card, it might be worth opening it up separately in explorer, and dragging them in that way.

Might be worth trying a format on the SD card and trying again (will remove all data on the card already, so be sure to back up).

2GIG, I am not sure what size I can go to with the Columbus unit or I would buy a much bigger card say 4 or 6 gig

Open the files as usual in the same way you were doing before.

Now, start -> Computer. Devices with removable storage. Select the SD card. Find the right location, might be a folder called music or something, not sure. Then just highlight the files you want to take over, and while holding the mouse down, drag them across the screen to the SD card window.

I have done that, but for some reason and I have reformatted the card, it only loads about 10 of 100 songs, they are all MP3

Do all songs have the MP3 or WMA file extension, if its anything else the columbus will not play the files.

I have the columbus and it works with an 8Gig card.

I have the columbus and it works with an 8Gig card.

Only with the latest firmware, which cannot be installed onto older units. Older A version units are officially limited to 2GB since the firmware does not support SDHC.

Thinking about this, iirc the clone cards show up as the right size but ain't.

Where did you get it from ??

I have managed to get them to download, but by downloading 20 at a time, and reformatting the card before putting the next batch on, pain in the rear doing it this way.

how many songs can you transfer from the SD to the HD before you need to make another folder??

I can get just under 4GBs worth of pictures from digital camera into one directory on my 4GB SDHC card. I suspect your card must be a bit dodgy.....

If you're reformatting it before putting more on, isn't that just removing the previous batch? :S

it is either the card going sour or a corruputed driver within XP.

I have had both cause exactly the problem you are describing.

How old is the card and do you wipe and reload it often??

The cards I had that died were used in cameras at work, so were being filled and wipes regularly.

But later I problems after a rootkit damaged my XP system files, USB keys would work, but SD cards would not.

If you can, try the card with a different system, if you still have problems, it is the card and you will need a new one.

Aria do them for about £5, although they have regular offers where the price can go as low as £1.99.
