New vRS prices

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm considering coming back to the Fabia vRS fold (after three years away).

The usual stuff one gets from dealers is, "these are a new model/in demand/rare as hen's teeth, so we can't discount them". Bulls**t or not? I'd be interested to hear if people are getting discounts (either off the list price, or by overpricing PX'es). If not, do you think it might be better hanging on for six months (even with the VAT rise which will add £300+ on)?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

i've heard of people getting a fair old amount off, try a different dealer.

There are definitely discounts to be had - just look at drivethedeal - however some Skoda dealers just arn't interested in discounting, but others are. The first 3 dealers I approached didn't respond back to me when I showed them the DTD quote.

Try approaching a couple of dealers towards the end of month - you never know they might play. I was certainly lucky at the end of August when I placed my order for a vRS Estate and I am very pleased with the discount I received, which was comparable with DTD.

Believe that it's not forum etiquette to mention specific dealers by name, so perhaps if you want more detail on my recent experiences you can contact me by e-mail.

Cheers Andy

My experiences were exactly the same as Andy's. I saved £1500, and I have seen a post saving £2000.

Get your order in quick (before the end of the month)

1) You will still get the 17.5% VAT rate even though your car wont arrive until 2011

2) 0% finance might / might not be around after this month

and yes I did get a VERY good deal on my order with trade-in from my local dealer. I had D T D figures written down with £895 extras fitted. I wanted the 0% for 2 years with payment of £200 a month.

They did just what I asked of them !

Thanks. I'll have a look in a few dealers this weekend with a price in mind.

WRT the 0% finance, do the finance deals come out of the dealer's cut, or Skoda UK? If the latter, is there any 'kick-back' to the dealer, even on a 0% deal? I'm in a position to be able to pay outright, so I guess what I'm asking is, is it likely to get me a better price if I don't take up any finance deals?

Mine was an ex demo with 500 miles on it and I paid 15K for mine, I got MDi, and black roof as extras. So saved £1000 there. Got a good trade in on the old car too so was happy with my deal.

Where abouts are you based? Send me an email of what you'd like and I can give you a quote if you want.

They are talking our of their ar*e. New cars sales have fallen through the floor in comparison to last year. DTD have been offering them for £14,129 since they were released and are offering Octy VRS for less than the official list price of the Fabia VRS. Go to different dealer.

Not true.

Skoda new car registrations have gone up a large chunk since last year, which was up on the year before too.

Where did you get your information from?

This year's allocation of 500 Fabia vRS's has ended.....ALL ordered/sold..so how has the floor fallen out of the market??

Youre getting duff information it would appear!!

I guess you guys don't follow the market information from the UK's quoted car dealers. Total UK sales figures for August 2009 were 67,006, totals for August 2010 are 55,305. In other words sales have fallen 17.5% from last year.

In this, Skoda sales are up slightly - August 2010 1283 up from 1205 in August 2009.
