"seized" gear handle

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

The gear shifter on my felicia pickup 1.9 d ( http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/174382-greetings-from-norway/ ) , are sometimes hard to move back and fourt. Sideways are OK. Are there any joints or bearings in the gearshift linkage that have worned out or need greasing?

There are two joints, one directly below the gear lever, and one at the front where it joins to the gearbox. They could have seized, I would think the one below the lever is more likely to have done this as it's a joint which is only articulated in the front/back direction. The front joints aren't great and usually pretty sloppy.

does it no it when the engine is not running? could be that the clutch cable is too loose also... but the most likely cause is a worn gear linkage

Thanks for that info. My Felly has done the same. In fact I had a look at the linkage today and if I can access the underneath of the car it doesn't appear too bad a job to do.

is there a more reliable and effective way to repair the gear linkage wobbling and blocking, other than just replace seized parts? any better idea than skoda engineers invented ?

I am attaching some reference pictures to pinpoint very precisely the culprits and address solutions.

Problem solved. I just loosened the bolt (no 10 on the rigth picture) a quarter turn. Now the shifter feels like greased!
