best rust primer

Featured Replies

I wondered what people used when treating rust on cars? I have been using red oxide hammerite paint, then putting on two layers of normal car paint (e.g skoda etc). What do you use and what is best?

I used to use kurust then a coat of jenolite (which I think hammerite purchased)

Bilt Hamber seem to do a good range these days.

Corroless QD is excellent but it's a bit expensive and not easy to get hold of.

YEARSSSSSSSSSSSSS ago there used to be a spray grey primer one ( made by Hamerite, but can't remember name) . I treated an old MK2 Cav with it and never had any break through .

And as aside - in the house ,to ponce up a radiator -strip it back to metal ,then prime with Hammerite( proof to 300c) , then add rad paint - comes up like new .( NB-plenty of ventilation advised) .
