A confused wouldbie Supber owner

Featured Replies

Hello everyone ,

My Volvo S80 T reg with 175K on the clock is still chugging along but the rattles are reachin a point that its time for a change and a skoda superb looks like it will meet my needs .

Found one using autotrader online at an independent dealer - 2005/05 Skoda Superb 1896 cc Elegance TDi 130 pd tip auto disel (53K on clock) with a display price off £7,490 . Inside my budget but still is it value for money I asked myself ??

Off I went to parkers price guide and for this spec it gave a independent dealer price of £7,590 . On the phone price down to £7,200 + service + mot + new cam belt and water pump + a years tax ..

Having gone to this forum and seeing all the niggles , water leak issues often coming up on the boards , I nealry switched to buying a far more expensive mondeo but on paper the superb if it last me 4 years at least is significantly cheaper option .. So to put my mind at rest happy will have the car AA inspected first .

Went over to wisebuyer car site to see if there price went along with Parkers ... but its widely different saying a franchise deal would sell the car for around £5,618 ( the actual final price , not sticker price ) compared to a trade in value of £4,106 .

Now confused by the wide difference in prices and here to ask for advice .

Any assitance appreciated

Andrew

Welcome.

It does sound a bit pricey for a 2005 car.

Unless you really need an auto then I would steer clear from them as they get expensive when they go wrong. Double check the carpets are dry and the plenum chamber is clear, if not (on either part) walk away = it's simply not worth the potential cost and hassle.

P.S. I know of a nice 2004 Superb Comfort for sale :giggle:

Hi and welcome aboard.
