Rear p/s window wind noise

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Has anyone else had bad wind noise (lol!) coming from the rear passenger side quarterlight window? My '09 hatch is v.noisy at m/way speed-I thought it might have been a dodgy seal or door alignment, but these are both fine, & a mate in the UK reckoned he had the window replaced under warranty on his, which seemed to sort it. Can't imagine any Irish dealer being arsed to replace it....comments/suggestions please!

This has been covered before, and is a known issue on some cars. The source is probably the edge of the fixed glass in the rear side door. This can be fixed by adjusting the rear channel guide in the door.

Thanks. DIY or dealer job?

The solution I saw posted involved a piece of plastic of the same thickness as the window glass (a piece of reg plate for instance) and a rubber mallet or similar.

If it is in warranty though I would get the dealer to do it

What he said

Can be done DIY (many people have), but if yours is under warranty is a dealer issue. If they're decent, they should be aware of it and know how to fix it. Pretty sure there's been a technical bulletin issued to dealers about this, some time ago.

Cheers,

Steve

It is a common fault which all dealers r aware of, theres a technical bulletin out for it, although it doesnt always fix it 2 b honest!
