The front wipers on my Octavia have just refused to work. For a couple of days they did not start immediately when switched on, now they do not operate at all. I suspect a faulty relay but can not identify which is the one to control the wipers.

Has anyone any experience of this problem. I have located the relays below the steering column all of which are numbered which id the correct one?

Common fault on Octavia's is the linkage seizing up, can you hear any thing from the motor when you switch them on ?

if so, you might need to strip the linkage down and lubricate the moving parts (quite easy if you know how)

Check the bonnet is fully shut...................................................and the sensor. That puzzled me for a few minutes on my FL the other day.

If the bonnet is not fully shut - no wipers. It's to stop the wipers being activated when the bonnet is open as there is a fouling issue.

Same happnens with the tailgate also.
