Show me your 25mm droped Fabia

Featured Replies

I'm about to drop my Fabia vrs just 25mm front & rear.

Anyone who has droped their's 25mm can you post some pics please for me to have a look what to expect.

Don't really want to go any lower than that as it's a heavily used car and used for everything. (Work/family/long distance etc).

  • Holy thread revival batman, mines is down 25mm so check my thread for good pics of the drop!

I think if you have to use your car everyday and encounter all sorts of roads then 25mm is a perfect drop. Sure I would love a set of coilovers, but I have to drive everyday, and lots of miles so its nice to keep that standard level of comfort as well. I also think its a great value for money mod too. Sits how it should have from the factory

Thinking of doing the same thing with my vRS. Is it just me, or does the back look slightly closer to the wheels than the front?

Great looking vRS tho :smirk:

Looks good. Reduces the gap in the arch more than I thought it would to! Nice

I think its just the picture to be honest, I'll try and get another one up.

The thing with Eibach's is as soon as someone sits in the car it drops quite a bit, so static photos are the highest it could possibly be. It looks pretty low when you are driving along!

Moving (quite fast haha)

Is it just the Eibach springs that are needed for this modification ?

For example if I bought these could I fit them without having to purchase anything else ?

How much does it cost for parts and fitting for this normally?

I know I can get a set of eibach springs (25mm drop) for £155.00 delivered and get them fitted for about £40.00.

Never said they were low mate. :dull:

I was answering the original query.

But for the benefit of the unenlightened

I'll explain...

Mine ( On the right----> ) is standard set up OE shocks and springs

Like the OPs who wanted to know what a 25mm drop looked like.

The other one (On the left <---- ) is lowered 25mm.

The photo illustrates the difference between the two...

And to be honest at 37 my old backside prefers a comfy ride rather

than a harsh crashy one. I had Spax coilovers on my last car and it

damn near broke my back. They were on it when I bought it and whilst

fun on perfectly smooth bendy roads they were awful everywhere else. Despite many

attempts to adjust them by my mechanic. Having lived with them...

I'd never go coily again.

I'll leave turning cars into unpleasant horse cart like spine damagers

to people who have money to burn. I'd rather chuck my cash at my mortgage.

after some reseach into lowering springs it may be a short term solution as the standard dampers aren't designed to be used with aftermarket lowering springs. they will be compressed which may wear them out quicker so in the long term one may need to replace the oem dampers. would a suspension kit be a more longer term solution.

edit: and cheaper option in the long term as you won't have to fit new dampers again

Lovely motor Mike B. Did you have to remove the engine tray when the car was lowered? Is there anything else that would need to be fitted apart from the springs?

Thanks,

J

Cheers matey!

Nope! just the springs changed, Still a decent amount of clearance under the car!

I've grazed the spliter a couple of times but nothing more sinister!

WOW!! dropped the car body a whole 25mm (thats one inch in the old type measurement), hmm, the width of my thumb, hmm, certainly not worth the effort nor expense. ???emoticon-0105-wink.gif

Views please, now I've rattled a few cages. LOLemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

If you're dropping it solely for looks, then the Eibachs will do the job. However, the standard dampers aren't really going to keep up with things should you press on, on wobbly, bouncy roads. At some point it feels dangerous and you have to ease off.

The Eibachs should get rid of that horrendous nose-dive if braking moderately to hard. Downside is you'll stop well before your junction or turn and you'll fade the brakes quicker. As without the downhill feeling, you don't "felel" the braking effect so much.

easy sorted eibachs, 312mm brakes, strut brace, RARB sorted my car out no end as for dampers needing upgradeing i will do this when these are worn or i come accross a set of uprated ones before then  and has been said coilovers look very nice but need maintaining and IMO unless its a weekend car or driven low miles the downsides out way the upsides. when i fitted the eibachs i found it to be a much better ride than std and with the other mods it makes it a dam good handeling car  and the cost of the above plus DIY fitting and its cost £560 approx still less than a set of coilovers and its had more mods done

My view on that is that you must have fat thumbs. Mine only measures 19mm.
