Featured Replies

Morning guys,

when turning into roundabouts or moving out of junctions i can hear a thumping knocking sound. Its not loud, but definitely there.

CV joint maybe? How much would i be looking to fix it?

Cheers

Could be a number of things

Cv gaitor £20

Console bush £8 a side

Drop links £50 a pair

Strut top bearing £9 a side

I had something similiar on my fabia, it turned out to be the big nut that holds the front wishbone bush in place was not fully tight. As you pulled away there was a knock which was the wishbone moving slightly. We made a spacer and fitted it behind the head of the nut and since it's been lovely and quiet.

its most probably your front rear wishbone bush, it is a common fault as the bush simply splits, there not expensive to buy around 8 quid each unless u go for poly bushes. every person i have dealt with that has the same symptoms has turned out to be these, cheers

Could be the cv joint.

I had something simliar last year and was only confirmed when the cv boot was removed and the joint inspected closely. The vRS engine puts out a lot of torque and if remapped etc a shed-load more so cv joints take a large portion of this as they are non-solid and therefore prone to wear.

I'd also check the condition of the bushes on the front ARB. And whether or not yours is the revised design one, that has metal shims to keep the bushes in place.
