Build Week Vs Confirmed Builld Week

Featured Replies

Rang SUK today to check on build week. I was told there was no confirmed build week for my car (order 3rd august). Last week I was told Week 2 2011, but as stated this is now unconfirmed. Are other peoples build weeks confirmed or also unconfirmed. My dealer has never made a distinction!

You get an estimated build week almost as soon as you order the car with the factory. Until this build week is confirmed the weeks could slip to a longer date or be brought forward to an earlier week at any time.

I had build week 36. when I called Skoda uk at build week 35 it still had not been confirmed. I called on the Monday of build week 36 and it had been confirmed. Basically you will not know which week you car is being built right up until confirmation.

Sorry the news is no better.

I ordered my 1.8 TSI L&K DSG, with paddles, the week before your order and was told week 44 biuld initially so I would probably not get until week 47 ie early December but as has been said it could be a couple of weeks either way but probalby will not know for a few weeks when actual biuld is happening.

Was rumours we would get compensation if over 16 weeks but I do not know if true or how much but atleast we get the lower VAT amount to be paid.

basically (my interpretation)....

build week = estimated/planned build

confirmed build week = production line has timetabled/scheduled the build. parts instock. spot reserved.

typically, the build week is only confirmed 2 weeks out from actual build.

so that's when the production line have successfully allocated/got all the parts for ur vehicle assembly, n a spot in the assembly line.

normally the production floor has parts ready for assembly for the next 2 weeks.

if there are delays with certain parts, they'll know 2 weeks in advance, and hence not provide with a "confirmed build date" until they've actually got all the necessary components.

this also allows the production floor managers to plan ahead; batch builds - diesel vs petrol; lhd vs rhd; dsg vs manual; etc etc

Thanks for all the replies. My concern was that so far I have been told week 49, 43,47 and now 2. How many more times is it likely to change?
