2001 Octavia 1.8t Elegance 4x4 estate

Featured Replies

Purchased in March of this year for my girlfriend, the end of said relationship brings about the sale of this car.

First reg 26/09/01 so on a 51 plate.

Metallic silver.

126,000 miles, with FSH - last at 120,000 in March 2010.

New front discs and pads April 2010.

Timing belt and water pump changed at 113,00 miles in May 2009.

Haldex oil and filter changed July 2009 (104,000 miles).

MOt till Aug 2011, tax till end Oct 2010.

Usual Elegance spec.

Skoda towbar with foldaway electrics.

Standard alloys with good tread tyres.

All electrics work correctly.

Stainless steel backbox Aug 2009.

Star Performance OBD remap Feb 2009.

K&N panel filter

Forge dump valve (I think).

Alpine cd/tuner.

One key.

Known issues:

Wee bubbling of rust on tailgate just below the glass, and one small stonechip on the bonner beside the grill, along with usual stonechips for a car this age.

Drivers door sometimes self locks after unlocking.

Crack in passenger mirror and casing - passed MOT.

Hinge broken on arm rest cover, but still locks down so doesn't rattle about.

When cold, sometimes take a wee bit of time to fire up. Have found best way is to turn over for a couple of seconds, then try again - starts instantly second time of asking. This has begun in the last few weeks, and as I'm not mechanically minded, would rather sell the car to somebody who is - with the asking price reflecting this -than spend time and money on the car which is now sadly a bittersweet reminder of times gone by.

Sounds a lot but would rather be open about what I know about the car up front.

Get about 30mpg with local driving (6 mile work journey) and have had 38mpg shown average on runs to Orkney.

Cheap car for safe winter motoring.

Car is located in East Lothian, and I need to sell it to help put the relationship behind me.

£1,600 ono.

And I'll throw in the tennis ball for free!

I think I've remembered everything, but no doubt will have forgotten stuff as I usually do.

Best way to contact me is to email me - scathel(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk.

Thanks for reading

Thanks sharkrider.

It would appear that if I lived further north/south/west, then I would sell the car umpteen times over! Still, such be life......

Good luck selling yours too.
