Just had this quote emailed to me for my car

Seems like a good deal? seeing as normally you might pay around the 350 mark

I assume this includes the kit and not just the belt.

Mr Clutch seems to be expanding and are offering some good deals to get people through the door.

Thats a good price the parts alone including belt, tensioner, damper, and new engine mount bolts, are over £100 and its not a 5 min job,

Using genuine parts? just the belt? or all tensioners and water pump? remember kids always get like for like quotes, for example we could change the cambelt only on that model for £170 using pattern parts, or £300 using genuine parts and also replacing the water pump and all tensioners emoticon-0148-yes.gif

as an ex manager for mr clutch i doubt that will include any tensioners or pulleys

Saw this on the website in the cambelt section...

All prices are inclusive of Parts (kit and tensioner where applicable), Labour and VAT.

*Excluding supply and fitment of water pumps, multi cambelt engines, sports, high performance, modified, commercial vehicles, vehicles with more than six cylinders or any vehicle where the engine has to be removed i.e. Fiat Coupe etc...

Are they any good though? emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

I'd want to know exactly whats being replaced for that price. Personally I would rather use a specialist (like Unit18) to ensure its been carried out correctly using the correct parts,

That will just be basic parts. It's what you can expect at that price. Also a good question on exactly whose parts they'll be fitted.

And yes, if you need to get the belt done, change the tensioners and the waterpump at the same time. Those are just as liked to fail as the belt itself.

Steve

Based on reports of people I know who've had clutches done at that franchise, I'd rather go with someone who knows the car.

I had a complete clutch replaced by Mr. Clutch on a Vauxhall Astra. Nothing but praise for this company.

As you may know there is no need to remove the gearbox on this car, the job was done in three quarters of an hour at a cost of £150. Well Pleased.

you can't exactly go wrong on a letterbox clutch on a astra!!
