Replacing Headlight Bulbs New vRS

Featured Replies

I just wondered if replacing the headight bulbs in the new vRS was easier than the old one.

I replaced the bulbs in my mk 1 vRS a few years ago - it was a very difficult , knuckle grazing job ,

in the end my daughter ( small hands) helped me do it.

MUCH easier

Our present Fabia II is a piece of cake

However, the sidelight bulbs are a nightmare :'(

Ah - thats good news.

Might get some brighter bulbs - Osram Night Breaker Plus.

Not sure what the lights on the new vRS will be like - oh just remembered 5 months wait !!

John

What about the fog lights? Are they a bumper off job?

Just out of curiosity, What type of bulbs does the new vRS have? H4, H7 or H3?

Also are the Fog lights LED, or is that only the DRLs?

In the most recent Fabia manual - main beam/dip for projector headlights is H7. Fog lights H8 ?

The fog/DRL's can be removed as a unit and pulled forward without the bumper being removed -but is the new vRS the same?

On 2010 on models, the length of the plastic tube that houses the sidelight bulbs is shorter and their removal is much easier.

Not sure what its like on the FL Fabia.

We dont get that till late October

In anticipation of my Fabia vRS arriving - Mid Jan ???

Should only the dip beams be replaced with brighter bulbs - as they are used most often or both dip and main ?

Just done a 160 mile night drive, mixture of motorway, single and dual carriageway,in my new Fabia vrs.

I dont have a problem with my high beam, but will definitley be changing the dipped beam to the philips X-treme bulbs.

My Greenline uses H7 bulbs for main and dip .Single H7 bulb a solenoid for dip, also known as projector lights. Are these the same as a vrs ?

Regardless of type I wanted to just say that I tried Osram nightbreakers as the headlights in standard from are a bit.....naff. The Osrams were an improvement but not by much. I then bought a pair of Philips xtreme H7 bulbs. These gave a significant improvement giving a whiter light and illuminating much further ahead. I recommend them. The access for changing the bulbs isnt the greatest.

Best price I found was about £20 on ebay with free shipping.

I havent tried accessing the side lights yet. If they are a pig I may invest in some decent LED type which will hopefully only need replacing once !

Will try the philips myself when i get the car. Just out of interest a comment ' a piece of cake' mentioned in changing the main bulbs - it is simple enough ie 10 mins per light or more complex that than. I have tried to replace bulbs on previous cars and they can be 10 min jobs or 2 hour jobs !

Some elaboration please :)

Many thanks.

Could I bump this and get further comment on exactly how easy it is to change the bulbs as may order some Philips bulbs ready for the car

Thanks :D

The Mk I vRS had very little room to replace the headlight bulbs - my daughter had to do one of them ( small hands !)

The 1,4 TSI engine , i believe , is smaller so it should be easier. Somebody on the forum has probably done it !!

John

ordered some phillips extreme 100% increase bulbs.

they are on back order - although will arrive way before the car I am sure.

Hopefully the fitting is easy.

Cheers

I have......Very easy but the bulbs need twisting out and its a little tight

Anybody got pics of some Phillips bulbs fitted?

I don't like how yellow the standard lights are on the VRS, especially with the LEDs underneath.

Does anybody have a rough guide on how to change the bulbs?

Cheers
