headlight on buzzer not working - do you know........

Featured Replies

Hi all, the headlights warning buzzer isn't working on my 2004 Fabia vrs. I suspect the door switch is u/s as the interior light doesn't come on when the drivers door is opened, whereas it does when any other door is opened. Does anybody know where the door microswitch is as it doesn't seem apparent when looking at the door. Does it work via the door stay?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, it's part of the door lock. You will need to remove the door panel and remove the lock.

Murky buckets - ain't that a pain in the butt!

I have the same problem with an 02 Fabia. What happened in your case? Was it expensive?

I had the same problem whilst car 2005 Fabia VRS still under warranty.

Buzzer integrated into speedometer, Skoda dealer fitted new replacement speedometer and the mileage was reset to old speedometer reading.

Not sure but buzzer also sounds if outside temperature below 4 degrees.

Suggest fit the likes of a separate buzzer between a headlight and a door switch.

Headlight being the live feed, whilst the door switch being the earth.

So when the door was opened, buzzer would sound if headlights still on.!!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

same problem here, 2005 fabia, lights all come on fine but the headlight buzzer wont sound, is it definetely the microswitch? or could it be the headlight switch possibly?

I had the same problem but my indicators didn't tick and my fuel light wouldn't beep, i ended up needing a new dial cluster

dammit my indictors dont tick and my fuel light doesnt beep either ahh!! you think i will need a new cluster? how much is one and do the dealers need to fit it? does it need coding etc? take it that its the speedo cluster? i thought i might need a new hazard switch?

Nope new dial cluster needed mate as the sounders built into it. Mines was done under warranty but £300 rings a bell for it to be done. Both you're keys need reprogrammed aswell

s%!t really!! my brother works for audi/VW so could get the part and fit it, does the milage need reprogrammed?

It's a full reprogram mate, took the garage about an hour and a half to do mines

You're brothers work could do it for u and hope he gets you discount

is this whats its most likely to be, would this explain the door buzzer not going off for leaving headlights on too?

Yup mines was making no noises at all including the lights buzzer. I left my sidelights on umpteen times cos it never buzzed

dammit my indictors dont tick and my fuel light doesnt beep either ahh!!

Do indicators flash on/off as normal, but can't hear the tick??

Assume you run your fuel low and trigger the 'low on fuel' warning buzzer??

I can't hear my indicators ticking but can see the panel indicator light flashing.

I never run so low on fuel to trigger 'low fuel' warning buzzer.

indicators flash as normal, but no ticking, and i had the fuel light on but it didnt make a noise. i thought it was normal till now. shouldnt skoda have these recalled? thats an expensive part for people to replace and seems its a common fault?

If you can find a scrap dash insert at a scrapyard, it is just possible, for a decent electronics engineer to replace the buzzer.Involves working with surface mounted components, so specialist soldering equipment needed.

If you need a new dash panel, the work involved is 20 minutes to swap the bits over (2 screws) then 30 minutes to program the keys for the immobilizer, pair the panel to the ECU, and transfer the correct mileage to the new panel. £300 ballpark.

Oh yeh was Moggy who said about £300, couldn't remember where i'd heard it lol

It's a pain in the backside when it happens, mines went about 50k and was replaced around 53/54k

Hi Scott.

If you don't want to pay £300 odd for a brand new one, you could try these SkoSpares/Roadside Recovery They are a Skoda Specialist Scrap yard.

You will still need it reprogramming at the stealers, but it may be worth a try. If not there's always FleBay.

But all used dashes will have mileage stored on them.

And alot of garages will refuse to touch used parts

this is true and usually things like this have to be bought from new, it can wait just now till i can afford it, its not a big deal, infact its peaceful not having a fuel light buzzer although its the light switch one i need, i dont wanna leave my lights on and kill my battery!!

There's what appears to be a buzzer (like a mall speaker grille) on the interior lights (model with a Sunroof). Is this a buzzer? Anyone know anything about it?

Okay I,m all confused, my problem is that the 'lights on' buzzer is the only one not working I have low fuel buzzer and indicator 'clicking' sounds

There is a low wiper wash warning? well I suppose thats not working also, hoping it was only a new light switch :-(

Do the tell tale dash lights work for both the dipped and main beam?
