Do the tell tale dash lights work for both the dipped and main beam?

Yes them do and sometimes in damp weather the fog lamp 'lights' and the rear fog light comes on, also

the interior light does not come on when I open drivers door, it does when I open passenger door? Phew seem

now that I have a few problems :-(

There's the problem, the switch has failed on your drivers door. The buzzer only responds to the drivers door. I thinhk the switch is integrated into the lock mechanism on models with centrral locking and necessitates replacing the whole assembly.

If the interior light is not coming on when you open the driver door, this is the reason why you are not getting a lights on warning. It is almost certainly due to a faulty microswitch in the door lock.

IMHO it sounds like the loom/plug on the drivers door side, between door and frame, check pins ie pull apart plug and socket and reconnect
