Flashing Glow Plug Light & Limp Mode

Featured Replies

Octavia II 2.0 4x4, 97k miles, the car has been running fine but I jumped in it tonight and when accelerating it sounded like someone had turned the climate fan up, come off the power and it stopped. However, within the space of about 1/2 mile the glow plug warning light started flashing and the engine went into limp mode. Stopped the car, started it up and it did exactly the same thing again.

I have had a search on here and there are some posts about this but nothing definitive that I can find. To me, it sounds like something turbo related but other posts suggest exhaust related. Anyone had experience of this so that I know what I might be looking at when I phone the dealership on Monday morning?

First look for any popped hoses, otherwise, you'll need a scan.

Yes, a hose was my first thought but it was dark and late so I waited until this morning. Popped the bonnet and found this

Tried sealing it with duct tape but the pressures are so high it won't seal, just alters the pitch of the whistle. I now have the CEL and glow plug light on but I suspect a new hose will cure this though I might need the fault codes cleared to turn off the CEL?

Update,

About £25 for a new hose plus fitting - sorted.
