What type of Diesel ?

Featured Replies

Was filling up my new Yeti , had put about 10 litres in ( Morrisons ) when suddenly noticed in small print above the pump - "contains 7% biodiesel " - oh no ! In red bold print on the inside of fuel flap is "do not operate with biodiesel ". What to do , stopped filling drove to a Shell station and topped up the rest .

Does anyone know a) if this amount is harmful B) do all the supermarkets have the same mix ?

All diesel for sale in this country has a 7% bio content. Also all pumps should display this fact.

When I contacted Skoda UK about Biodiesel in my 2L PD TDI (the "old" engine) they replied that up to 10% Biodiesel is OK, the warning is not to use 100% Biodiesel.

Presume it is similar for CR engines but the fuel pump is different so maybe check?

The ordinary Diesel usually complies with the specification as stated in the manual:

"Your vehicle can be operated with diesel fuel, which complies with the standard

EN 590.

Fuel additives

You must not use fuel additives, so-called “flow improvers” (petrol and similar products)

in diesel fuel.

If the quality of the diesel fuel is poor, it is then necessary to drain the fuel filter more

often than stated in the Service schedule.

You can find information on refuelling ⇒ page 201, “Refuelling"
