Squeaky rear breaks...

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have got a case of squeaky rear breaks. It usually only happens when I'm about to come to a stop. I've been told this can be caused by a build up of break dust in the breaks. I would usually power hose them once a week. Is there anything else that could be causing this?

Thanks.

J

Bit of copper slip on the rear of the pads might help a bit.

Do they "moo" sometimes when you're braking in reverse?

Thanks. And nope, no moo'ing when going in reverse.

moo'ing...? :o

moo'ing...? :o

Figure of speech but a pretty descriptive one

My Mark 3 Golf GTI did it, My Bora did it, My Furb did it until I changed rear discs and pads

but I've no doubt it will start again before long. :D

All those cars have been parked rear end down on a bit of a sloped drive

and have more or less the same rear disc brake setup.

Mrs Grrs has drum rears and has never done it.
