Automatic wipers

Featured Replies

I have 1 2010 Skoda Octavia Scout 1.8 TSI.

How can I turn the automatic rain sensors on and off?

Please help, I live in Greece and at junctions there are always people trying to clean the windscreens of cars. Every time I'm at a junction someone gets a wet window scraper and starts cleaning my windscreen which always sets off the wipers. These people don't take no for an answer and I've almost broken the wipers on a few occasions.

Please tell me I can turn them off.

Thanks in advance for any help.

(I started a new thread on this because the other one I posted in was very, very old and I'm not sure if people will bother reading it)

One click down on the wiper stalk I believe ( away from the auto set ), I could be wrong but it seems to be the way mine operate.

Thanks, I'll try that and let you know.

Right hand stalk fully down to switch the wipers off completely.

Thanks. I've had conflicting info though.

The picture isn't an Octavia stalk but the positions are the same.

The position marked "1x" is the fully down position, the lever won't stay in that position as its spring loaded. It will spring back up to the "OFF" position.

"1x" is for one manual sweep of the wipers. If held in this position the wipers will stay on until it is released.

Above "1x" is "OFF" which is the rest position for the stalk and is wipers/rain sensor off.

Above "OFF" is the automatic function (intermittent on cars without auto wipers).

Above "AUTO" is wipers always on.

Above "ON" is the top position and is wipers always on but faster.
