Toyota Verso handbrake adjustment

Featured Replies

Hi,

SWMBOs Verso again......emoticon-0114-dull.gif

Handbrake takes a min of 8 clicks to gain satisfactory grip. It's one of those systems with drum brakes inside the hub of the rear discs. Hence the shoes are only used on the handbrake and so (in theory should last a lifetime).

I have already checked the adjustment of the shoes' adjustment wheel/nut - one more click and the shoe grabs the hub too much. I'm looking for a way to adjust the cable but can't see a way of getting at it - and there's no Haynes manual for this car unfortunately. Anyone got any pointers on how to tighten it up?

Thanks,

Martin

Have a look under the handbrake lever, jap stuff usally is adjusted via a 10mm nut just under hanbrake lever, pull lever up a few clicks & pull up the cover & you should see it,you may need a deep socket to reach over the stud. (i could be wrong though as never worked on one of these!)
