My Octavia vrs needs soundproofing - Help?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have just bought my first Skoda - a 2003 plate Octavia Vrs which has been upgraded with a remap and large low profile wheels. It is a truly brilliant car apart from the issue of cabin noise, so I am hoping for some advice and opinions. The tyres are quiet ones although obviously noisier being low profile and wider than standard. The shocks and springs are all new. It is mainly road and wind noise (I like the sound of the engine!) I do a lot of motorway and a road driving and like my music

Ive looked at buying a kit from noisekillers, and either paying them to fit it or attempting it myself. But Ive read a couple of reports saying the kits are ill fitting and a rip off. Is dynamat the way to go?- or brown bread? or any other options- or even a combination of products? Obviously Id like value for money and am fairly practical but understand the door cards and roof linings are tricky to remove.

So money no object - what is the best way of making the interior as quiet as possible, and has anyone tried any of the above?

Id appreciate your advice - thanks

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hi and welcome.

Dynamat is a sound deadener not an absorber so it will reduce panel vibration and damp some of the road noise but won't absorb it. It will make your speakers sound a lot nicer though if you do the front doors. :)

Dynaliner and Dynapad are absorbers and will damp sound - according to their website. I've only used Dynamat (well actually a cheaper clone of Dynamat).

Don't forget that this stuff is heavy so will slow you down :)

Not too heavy as full bulkpack is around 10-12kg.

Well done Rob.

I've just had a full Noisekiller kit fitted to my FL Octavia and the results are very good, definite reduction in road noise.
