parking lights problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys realise am new here but need some help with my 54 plate octavia 2.0tdi.

Basically a few days ago the warning light came on the dash for a bulb being out, I have an obd2 scanner I bought off ebay a while ago, plugged it in and it says the parking light drivers side is out (I checked all the lights they all work fine but the one bulb for the drivers side, the first position on the lights switch, is that called parking light? always though they was side lights).

Bought a new bulb (w5w halogen) and fitted it, the light still did not come on, so tried passengers side with new bulb, worked fine. so the bulb is not the issue.

Anyone know what it could be? Cheers.

I recently replaced one in a MK5 Golf (which is what the MKII Octavia is based on) with the same results, I turned the lights off, locked the car, re-opened the car and put the side lights back on again and the light then worked .

It might be something to do with the CANBUS system that these cars use needs re-setting? and locking the car did the re-set?

Sorry for bringing this topic up but it describes my problem fairly good.

This thing started when i took apart the Octavia's front left light and did a Joey-mod to it. So that required me to take the parking light off from its place and i think it was there when i accidentally didn't put it to it's place right. I think it didn't have contact and it lid the warning light. Now as i took the light apart again, i put the parking light correctly to its place on the holder but still the warning light is on and the parking light is not working. Then i measured staight from the pins in the holder that it's got only 0.56 V current?? I'm starting to think that there's something wrong with the wiring that comes behind the light because it's really short and when you take the light multiple times from the car, the parking lights wiring might been snapped or streched somewhere.

Now, would anyone happen to have the wiring diagram for the left front headlight? In particular i'm interested in the connector that is behind the light.

I read the fault codes and the result is this:

1 Fault Found:
02394 - Parking Light Left Front (M1)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
		 Freeze Frame:
			 Fault Status: 01101100
			 Fault Priority: 2
			 Fault Frequency: 1
			 Reset counter: 52
			 Mileage: 90570 km
			 Time Indication: 0
			 Date: 2005.09.13
			 Time: 31:63:63
		 Freeze Frame:
				 ON
			 Voltage: 11.90 V
				 ON
				 ON
				 OFF
				 OFF
				 OFF

Any ideas on where to start looking for the fault? Have i streched the wire for the left parking light when i took the light off from the car? The wires are really short on the left side and it is hard to get the plug opened. Now i would really need the wiring diagram as i have no idea what is the wire for the parking light.

Resolved this by changing the parking light bulb. Didn't think that it would have blown just when i once in a year happen to take the front light off the car. And that fault code was a bit misleading...
