excessive water in floor well

Featured Replies

hi there i have recently bought a skoda octavia ambient 1.9 tdi on a 51 plate the main issue it seems to have is that the passenger side floor well seems to build up with excessive amounts of water when it rains by excessive i mean you could happily keep a goldfish this seems to covered the back floor as well as the front .

i have checked the most obvious items such as heater matrix but the water seems to be coming from bulkhead area behind glovebox engine coolant level stays up so its not to do with that has anyone had this same problem that might be able to point me in the right direction

thanks in advance.

First guess would be that the scuttle drains are blocked beneath the plastic trim at the bottom of the windscreen, there's one at each end adjacent to the front wings.

If these get blocked the rainwater builds up and finds its way into the car :'(

There is a grommet next to the pollen filter under the scuttle panel on the passenger side of the car. The chances are the water is entering via there.

I ran a cable through mine, which then caused a leak. Plenty of silicon sealant did the trick after I converted my car into a swimming pool.

I would also check the drains from both ends of the scuttle bulkhead area are clear. On the pic above, you can you see part of the wiring loom vanashing down the drainage hole. use a watering can - the water should pour out at the rear of the front wheel arches. Try undoing a few of the torx screws for the back end of the wheel arch liner, and remove any compost you might find in there.
