What's the best product for RED fabia

Featured Replies

I've got a red fabia and after purchasing a couple of products: clay, AG SRP, Harly Wax I still cannot get the finish I want!!

I'm looking for a deep gloss effect but can't quite get it. Help me out!!

Step by step instructions would be nice and some pics of gleaming red cars(not essential, more for a nose)

Seeing as you asked for pics....

1 coat of SRP

1 coat of EGP

and a quick wipe down with Megs UQD :)

Clay it and apply some Bilt Hamber Finis Wax

If the paint is perfect then Vics concours will bring red up a treat.

Think I'll get some AG EGP.

Shall I wax over that then?

Meguiars NXT 2.0 Tech wax works a treat on my red Leon. Bilt-Hamber Autobalm good too. Give it a claying first.

If your not getting good depth with that process then I would say it's more than likley your paintwork is faded or swirled, which is robbing the depth..............

Products can only be as good as the preparation of the paintwork before it's applied, you can of course add depth to paintwork with various products but if you are still not happy then how does the paintwork look in direct sunlight?

In direct sunlight I'd say it's swirly but not faded. Ironicly another red fabia vrs parked next to mine in the works car park yesterday (honest, it did) and his looked a lot pinkier & faded than mine.

The swirls will rob the final finish making it greyer and will prevent sunlight hitting the paintwork and bouncing back through the lacquer directly............

If you don't have a machine to polish these swirls out then you can only go with something like AG SRP to mask them and then seal over the top, would be worth investing in something like Zaino Z8 for that final bling or try somethnig like Megs Ultimate Quik Detailer as a cheaper alternative to add depth....................

Might be worth claying the car aswell to ensure it has as little contaminents on there as possible........

Exactly what i done, although i do have a machine, i just dont have the time at the moment, so the above was done just to get it through the winter.

It's since had a layer of 476 over it too.

Ok. I got clay but haven't had chance to use it properly yet & I also got megs quick detailer.

I'll have a browse on tinternet now for Zaino Z8 for a couple of reviews.

Thanks.

I'd go for a heavy oily glaze like CK RMG, then Vic Concours, that will fill swirls and give a deep wet gloss.

Rather than guessing - could you post a close-up picture of a panel you're unhappy with? Ideally under an artificial white light source or diffuse natural light?

Super Resin Polish will mask a lot, but you REALLY need to work it. Putting it on and wiping it off won't do the job RIGHT. AutoGlym's recommendation is it should take you 4 minutes to do a 12" section of a panel by hand. That takes a lot of people by surprise, but actually, it works very, very, well.

If it is all swirly then save your money, don't buy any more product, and get it machine polished. Ultimately, all the products that hide swirls do is exactly that. Machine polishing will remove them and you can start afresh.
