rear demister

Featured Replies

hi all ive not long had my octavia 1.9tdi but ive noticed that my rear demist only works on the top two lines.so what i would like to know is it a simple fix or does the window have to be replaced cheers all

You'll need to examine each element closely for any breaks. To fix, you can buy electrically conductive paint and paint over the break. I suggest using masking tape to ensure a neat line. It's laborious to do and can look unsightly as the paint is usually silver.

I had the same problem butI managed to find a new genuine rear window on a famous auction site for 15 quid and had it fitted for 35.

Has anyone had experience with this conductive paint? I have 5 lines not working, but do not want to go through the hassel of replacing the screen.

Had one line with a break in it - it's not difficult to with conductive silver paint.

Find the break.

Clean the area with IPA.

VERY carefully remove the laquer that protects the metal strip for about 5mm each side of the break.

Use masking tape either side of the strip.

Thickly paint between the masking tape so that it covers the exposed area of the strip.

Remove the masking tape immediately - if you wait until the paint is dry, you may pull off all the paint..
