The Eagle has Landed

Featured Replies

So, after seventeen and a half weeks, my Scout reached my local dealer in Christchurch this afternoon. It was whisked straight off for grooming, then it will be back to the dealer for its PDI, and for a VAG removable tongue towbar to be fitted and for me to collect on Tuesday afternoon. Before it went to the groomer, my dealer took one quick photo for me:

I've got to say that I'm slightly embarrassed at feeling quite so excited about a lump of metal; perhaps it's the 4 month wait. I can't remember waiting this long for anything before.

Roll on Tuesday!

Looks fantastic!

I was just the same in July. If you love your cars, you can't quite beat the feeling of ordering a new one, enjoying speccing it up just how you want it, and then getting to the end if the long wait!

Will be interested in how you find it!

Have fun!

If I was looking forward to driving my Scout in NZ, I would be at least as excited! Such a great place to use its capabilities - looking forwards to lots of skoda brochure style "scout in stunning landscape" pics. The car looks very sound.

Very nice Simon

Shame they couldn't find a Skoda seat cover - you wouldn't catch me putting non-skoda parts in my car

Long since realised you can't have a pixel out of place on this forum!

Nice. What colour is that?

It's Cappuccino Beige.

Looks really good in that colour.

That was a joke if you look at my sig ;)

Does it have the sunset privacy glass? They look quite light - might just be the photo...

Front parking sensors too, a rare option on the Scout here in the UK.

Nice car - you won't be disappointed

I stand to be corrected, but I can't see any evidence of any front parking sensors on the pic shown.

Look closer, they are there, one above the fog light another next to the number plate mount...

That looks darned nice, congrats

Accept that you're right, but we must be looking at different pics as I still can't see them.

So lets get an input from Simon Cobb on the subject, just to prove I'm wrong

I'm hoping you are wrong, as front parking sensors were an option I specified, but I agree that it's hard to tell from the photo, and I've yet to physically see the car. The NZ standard spec is pretty high, as per the attached pics:

If you want to compare prices with the UK, divide the NZ$ figures above by 2.1 to get an approximate Sterling equivalent.

To the standard spec, I added:

Alcantara

Electric Front Seats with Memory for Driver and Mirrors

Electric Two-Way Sunroof

False Floor with Storage in Luggage Compartment

Heated Front Seats

LED Driving Lights

Parking Aid - Front

Xenon Headlights with AFS and Washer Jets

Official VAG removable tongue towbar (to be fitted by the dealer)

So, no sunset glass (my better half dislikes tinted windows)

I hope everything is there when I collect the car on Tuesday :D.

Oh, and the car is booked in for an MTM Stage 1 re-map (125kW, 360Nm) as soon as the guy who does the work gets back from his holidays. This is an approved Skoda NZ remap, with no impact on warranty (mind you, nor should it for the £700 price-tag :o).

50% of the time I'm not right the other 50% of the time I'm wrong.

Told you I was not right.

Must say though, Silver 1011 you've got jolly good eye sight - well done.

Transferred Simon`s photo to Photoshop & magnified it.Front Parking sensors definately fitted

If you click on the image it enlarge's which makes it easier to spot them

What about the other half? :giggle:

Your right, the NZ spec is very generous. Saying that it is a little more expensive £23,333 vs. £21,700 RRP.

Never even heard of the 'Headrest Safety System'. I guess this pushes the headrests forward to meet your head in an impact?

Isofix and airbag deactivation for the front passenger seat is neat addition too...

In the UK we get 'Hill Hold Control' and 'Sunset Privacy Glass' as standard.

'Bluetooth', 'Maxidot', 'Steering Wheel Stereo Controls', 'Curtain Airbags' and the dash mounted '6 CD Player' would be neat if standard over here!

Your scan confirms DSG will be available next year on the Scout too!

What about the other half? :giggle:

She's in the kitchen, cooking breakfast - Thanks
