Wing Mirror - illuminating Lights

Featured Replies

I've got a 2005 Elegance Estate and it has the illuminating lights on the wing mirrors to light up the door area below. The light produced is quite 'yellow' and looks a bit rubbish so I was wondering if anyone has replaced the bulbs to get something that looks better?

Wing Mirrors - Eh

That made me smile. Trying to think of the last car I had which had these - got to be the old BMC Mini.

Fitted them myself as they were not supplied as standard then. They were spring loaded and could be folded

round and round, made by Desmo if my memory serves me correctly.

In fact I still have one of the old mirror heads which I use for hand held inspection of difficult to see items.

They are only meant to give a soft light anyway.

You need to search around on here, at the beginning of the year there was a picturebook blow by blow of how to do it and replace with LED lights.

You mean this B)

Wing Mirrors - Eh.

OK, so they're not on the wings anymore but they are still called wing mirrors.

A lot of cars now have wheel trims but everyone knows what a hub cap is, in the same way cars now have door mirrors everyone still knows what a wing mirror is.

Good game this. Hub caps covered the oily bits ie grease filled hubs. Nave plates covered and prettified the wheels.

I remember looking at a Ford brochure decades ago and my father and I were puzzled over the 'odometer' that the 1600E had. Mileometer in more common parlance of the time.

Usage changes with time.

You learn something new every day... never heard of nave plates before!

I changed the Puddle lights on my L&K to high power W5W LED's which look quite nice and do a better job than the W5W normal bulbs in them.

I've never really thought about the term "wing-mirrors" until now...............oh well should have called them door mirrors.

I tried searching but couldn't find the guide............are the pictures posted above by alberg part of a guide on here?

How about this one then. Always baffled me, and that's easily done.

What is a rev counter ?

Does a rev counter count revolutions ?

If not why not !

Your right, I'm sure a rev counter does count revolutions...

"A tachometer (also called a revolution-counter) is an instrument that measures the rotation speed of a shaft or disk, as in a motor or other machine. The device usually displays the revolutions per minute (RPM)"
