Barn finds

Featured Replies

Have you ever found and recovered a car from a barn, field, unit etc and restored it? If so what car?

I once found a ford capri in the corner of a scrapyard with the windscreen put through and covered in mud, spent the best part of 2 years restoring it.

I have not got the expertise or interest, but my father has done this type of thing. He is however interested in a different class of car than old Fords. His best projects have been a Daimler limo and a big old British car. Now what was it called, something like Armstrong Sidley........does this make any sense? He sold it years ago.

I'd like to, if I had more time. :D Mate of mine does a service to cars by rescuing those that would normally head to the scrappy for engine reasons, and get them going again.

Armstrong-Siddeley were a well-known upmarket marque in the 30's to 50's. I remember a few of them dotted around London as a kid. Not so many now, however.

He still raves about that car, was very expensive to run, and growing family demands etc meant he had to pass it on. He builds working steam locomotives now.

Now I know how to spell the name did a search, and came up with a photo of a car that looks just like my fathers one. It may even be it, I can not remeber the reg.

See photo.

Havn't got many figures as i didn't start with a plan - it sort of evolved :D or mutated

I did a mixture of sprints, hillclimbs, autocross and forest sprint(like a stage rally but no co-driver),entries varied fron

Am in the process of restoring my Scimitar. It's the second one I've had, I saved the first one from the hedge that was trying to swallow it but it turned out to be a money pit. This one's better, but still not an "economy vehicle"...

I restored a mini as well,

There great for resto, bits are so cheap, especially if you want to start modding.

Ive had it for 7 years, it was a rust bucket then rebuilt shell + engine for when i was 17 to drive. I was driving it until i was hit badly from the rear, so i thought it would be a laugh to buy a Lada Niva until i fixed it. I ragged the Lada, but it never broke until 3 years later the mini was fixed. Sold Lada and put the mini back on the road (1300cc this time). Was driving it till about 2 weeks ago when i got a fabia Vrs.

So i was thinking of fitting a turbo i had for it whilst its off the road, but alas my dad sold it whilst i was at uni. Oh well
