Sorry, didn't find any thread about changing a spring?

Featured Replies

I did search the forum, but I didn't find any? The shop wants more than € 300 for changing my left front spring for my Fabia 16v 2001, and I just saw that the the spring only cost € 80. I have my Haynes packed somewhere because I'm moving. You know if this is a simple issue to do yourself? I'm guessing just a bolt? :(

You need spring compressors and a fairly complete tool kit.

The damper needs removing complete with the spring then stripping down. I'd advise a new top mount and bearing while your at it.

Crap. You think € 300 is an ok price?

I bought a new pair of spring compressors for £10.00 on E.Bay.

They come in various lengths suggest get the longest type.

Definitely a DIY job with a well supported car (ie axle stands.)
