Hi all got a really clean 52 reg VRS in black with a few mods. The thing is i quite fancy a mk2 but cant justify getting rid of my mk1. Shes still looks great drives superb after 8 years. I'm wanting more power as my mate got 405bhp out of his mk5 golf which is the same engine as the octavia mk2. Now do i spend the money that i would have bought an mk2 with on mods or do i buy a mk2 and get my mods done slowly? Please help as i'm driving my poor wife mad!!!!!!! :giggle:

I have recently replaced my mk1 octy vrs(had for 2.5 yrs) with a mk2 octy vrs & the mk2 is a much better car,both mine are/were standard examples. :)

I would say keep the mk 1 as imo its a much better looking car.

also the mk 1 vRS doesnt have a lorry engine tarnishing its line. and its a rarer car than the mk2 because of this. its also a good enthusiasts car. you need to keep ut to it to keep them in good nic, ie white carpet.

The mk 2 is a much stronger car tho on the other hand and is much better made. and its a bigger engine.

Surely if you are saying that you can't justify getting rid of the car then you have answered your own question.??

Keep the MK1..

That way, with the money you save, you can get some mods for it, and make it faster than a MK2.

AFAIK, getting 400 reliable hp from a 2.0tfsi engine isn't easy, or cheap..

Shouldnt you be asking this in the mk2 section as well to get their opinions to? :)

Rofl as they will all say get a mk2!

Keep the MK1, unless you can afford the facelift model looks alot better than a MK2

Octavia Mk1 = Fun :thumbup:B):D :p

Octavia Mk2 = Bland  :| :S :dull:

Having owned a Mk2 Vrs ( PD170 remapped ) I would say keep your Mk1 . Or buy an S4.

The MKI is getting a bit long in the tooth now....

If you decide to keep it take the sump off and check the oil pick up strainer :)
