1.4 TDi air con/blower issue

Featured Replies

Hi all,my dad's just picked up an '05 Fabia Ambiente 1.4 TDi from our local Skoda dealer, and he's very pleased with it so far. One thing weve noticed is,when operating the fan/air con, there seems to be air 'leaking' from under the glove box area. This sounds more noticeable the higher you turn up the blower. Has any one come across this before,or is it normal? Any help is much appreciated. Cheers,Paul.

Does the pollen filter holder still have its lid?

Get on your knees and look up underneath the

glove box. Can you see a slim box about 9 inches long

with a black plastic lid held in place by 2 sliding clips.

running lengthways with the car??

If not you'll have to possibly buy a new lid. as well as a pair of clips.

Do you get debris (leaves and stuff) just appearing in the footwell too?

When I bought mine I had the same thing.

My lid to the pollen filter holder was in the glove box

(For a few days I wondered what the hell it was??)

and wasn't fitted as the previous owner seemed to have lost

the 2 sliding clips which hold it on.

Luckily I had the other halves car to compare against and got the part

number from one of her clips. They were inexpensive as I recall.

In your car they may not have both been slid back into place correctly

or maybe only 1 is present and you're leaking air from the box as 2 are needed to

hold the lid in place properly. .

Just found a pic of the lid and the clips in another thread... Handy

(Hope you don't mind mafoo :) )

Voila...

Once the lid is in place, (I'm pretty sure it can only go on 1 way...)

the clips pop on in towards the middle of the lid and slide back toward each end

to secure it to the pollen filter housing.

In any case you do need 2 clips or it won't seal properly and will blow at

the end where the clip is missing.

Hi mate, cool, thanks for that! I'll take a look at it this week. Seems a pretty straightforward fix,if this is the problem. Many thanks. Cheers,Paul.
