Cosidering changing my Fab VRS for an Octy VRS. The boss (wife) says we need a car with more space. Managed to presuede the boss that this is the best option.

Going to drive a few at the weekend. What sort of things should i be looking out for bearing in mind the cars are around the 51/02 plate age with around 25k miles.

Also what sort of average mpg can i expect ? (Me and the boss get an average of about 48mpg in the jabba'd fab if that helps!)

Any other helpfull advice welcomed, thanks

Average mpg - I get around 35 on an 02 with 40k on the clock.

Around town, 30-32

On a run, 35, might do better if i had a lighter right foot

cruising in my "oh my god think of the transmission losses and MPG" 4x4 gets 43, day to day mid 30's.

as what to look for usal second hand buy stuff... leaks, smoke strange noises, over hanging finance, FSH, etc etc etc

My figures were as follows:

Motorways, cruising at indicated 80 - 39mpg

A roads, cruising normally - 35

Round town - 29

Having "fun" cross country - about 25

UK Tracks - about 11

Worst I saw for a tank? 6.5mpg

By contrast, my current one gets, in the same order as above:

Oh and yes, it would give an Octy RS (remapped if necessary) a bit of a kicking

30 to 35 in traffic which is not bad for any petrol. and you can fit your house in the boot

if you are buying to drive it the way its meant to be driven then bank on 30 mpg (being realistic) and you won't go far wrong IMO. look out for damages/repaired front valance. its ooohh so easy to scrape.
