More strange noises

Featured Replies

I've been getting a strange noise recently when the engines cold in the mornings when sitting at traffic lights. It only makes the noise once per morning, then goes away. It never does it when I first start the car, is always 1-2 minutes after when I hit the traffic lights by my house.

Cuts out around the 16 second mark. Any ideas what it is? Originally thought it was the fan/alternator belt but not sure. Dipping the clutch or revving the engine doesn't seem to have any real affect on it.

This cars really starting to do my head in now. :(

Is it something to do with some sort of emissions control. My old Octy had unit that I think used to make a similar noise, as if a little pump was running????

Hi listened to your mp3,sounds like a bit of vibration when cold thats all ,the background engine noise sounds fine though, rememeber if its not broken don't fix it! :giggle:

Yeah it sounds a little like a little pump... or like a kettle boiling, something like that. Or maybe something scraping a bit lol is hard to describe

When I get around to it I need to pull over, pop the bonnet and have a listen for where its coming from... might help find out what it is. On weekends etc. when I drive the other way I don't normally hear it, but then it'd probably be hard to hear over the road noise/diesel chugging

Thing is ,diesels are a strange animals they have an uncanny way of producing strange noises that appear and dissapear just as quickly, its as if they were alive and just making noise for the hell of it,if you are really worried take it to the doctors and let them take a look, may cost you though

Well its still under manufacturers warranty so i'd rather Skoda pay for it than me a few months down the line if something is knackered ;)

Its one of those things though which is impossible to make it do when you want it too. Skoda dealer are dismantling my gearbox soon, so I might ask them to take a listen to the recording see what they think
