Timing belt replaced £199 inc vat Skoda Broxburn

Featured Replies

Got a recomendation from another thread for Skoda West End garage, Broxburn/Uphall.

Gave Graham a call at service dept, and I'm getting my timing belt replaced on 1.9 4x4 Octavia for just £199inc vat !

Super bargain, seeing as the nearest price to that (and a special offer itself) was about another £100

Thanks to Briskoda for such an awesome forum and for saving me some money ! :)

Worth checking the water pump is included in this too. If it is then that is a bargain!

Water pump not included (its another £40), but he reckons he never gets water pump problems on the Mk II.

Getting it done anyway for the sake of having the coolant replaced for winter.

£199 seemed like a bargain to me after an hour of calling VW and Skoda dealers elswhere, including one for £436 for belt and water pump

Yes, from what I've read £300 seems about the going rate so that does sound excellent (VW charge £299 on their fixed price servicing for just the cambelt or £399 for cambelt and water pump).

That is good news for when I need my first service on my new Skoda, but for any one who has an older car and wants problems solved for a much cheapness solution but still with the product knowledge, I have found a chap who has 15 years experience of vw/skoda and is cheap as chips in the Edinburgh area. Graham has just set up on his own at Royal park Motors Edinburgh. PM if you need his number.

Got my 2.0TDi Elegance from West End back in April and have been really happy with them, Daniel the dealer principal is a sound bloke and I've heard nothing but good things about Graham in service. Going to give them a call next week to book the car in to get a wee minor niggle sorted out.

Is this just a standard price anyone can get? My Octavia has only covered 23K miles but is now four years old so needs a new timing belt, for that price it would be worth heading down to Perth to get it done.

I live in Carnoustie and ended up buying my new VRS from West End, Daniel seems a really decent honest bloke and the deal he gave me was much better than the 4 or so dealers that are nearer to me. It was actually a pleasure to part with my cash. I did not feel at all as if I had been done, not usually the case when leaving a garage, in fact we semi agreed on a trade in price over the phone, fully expecting him to um and ar and offer me less he totally shocked me by offering me more.

I've only done 5k in the car but thinking about using them for servicing etc ecen though it would be a much longer trip, that's how impressed I was with them.

Another West End fan here ... have bought a fair few cars from Stuart. Great guy. Was very helpful when a colleague put petrol in her diesel Fabia Greenline.

Graham in service is easy to deal with and always friendly.

Excellent service from West End Garage. I dealt with Eddie who was more than happy to help.

Bought my vRS from them in May and love it. Have been brilliant with parts and dealing with my little problem.

Yep, as far as I can tell its their current offer. Don't know how long for, nor how often it is repeated. Worth giving them a call though

This special offer is still ongoing, it's £200 for the 1.9 TDI's and £300 for the 2.0 TDI's. My VRS has just had its timing belt changed at West End for the £300 rate, my local dealer wanted £420 so it was worth the 320 mile round trip and overnight stay to get the work done particularly as I managed to pick up an order for Ikea that couldn't be delivered (the variable boot floor was fantastic for this). Bit of a long haul but all went smoothly and West End lived up to the reputation they have here, the service manager was very friendly and grateful that I'd driven so far for the work. He also mentioned the offer has been popular as other people had come a fair distance as well.
