hello from fife

Featured Replies

after a very long break from VAG products i was looking for a economical reliable cheap car to replace my old P38 Di range rover with.

after borrowing my father in laws octavia2 to take the kids to legoland in the summer i thought id have a look at the skoda's available in my area.

to my surprise i found a one owner non taxi full service history averaged miles octavia TDi estate in jazz blue 60 miles from me as a part ex to clear in a garage.

my father in law and i went to have a look and i bought it on the spot.

BUT

having had quite flashy sporty cars in the past the octavia was a bit of a culture shock. so out with all the seats and in with a golf 4 interior, off with the wheels on with golf 4 gti alloy wheels.

next the ride its very soft suspension and quite high so the coil overs are ordered and should be here next week so she is going in for a modest lowering and all the rear windows tinted.

once thats done and ive spent a few weeks tinkering with the height v ride quality and im happy i can get on with the hifi.

ive been a big fan of nice quality music in my cars since the 80's, giving my age away here as being a teenage retread, and have accumulated a lot of old skool stuff over the years.

so........

front will be my trusty focal utopias and ribbon tweeters or my other trusty alpine DDDrives both 61/2" seperates but the focals are huge and there is very little space

rears my old JBL's 6x4's had these for years and hail from the 90's when jbl built good equipment

sub will be my old trusty diamond audio 8" dual 4ohm sub

and old infinity kpx nucleus crossover with front fader sorting out the frequencies and powering it all..................the first amp i ever bought phoenix gold M25

now the front............. i currently run a kenwood kvt627dvd but ive never liked it, i like simple things so im looking at the Clarion DUB278RMP which is a simple setup but we will see what is going to transpire

so there is my story up to date

watch this space
