coolant temp light problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

Iv got a 2007 skoda favia VRS SE. As the title suggests i have a problem with the coolant temperature light. When i turn the car on (usually when engine is cold) the coolant temperature warning light illuminates with an audible warning. Iv used the search function and found a member with the same problem on a 1.4 classic model of the fabia. It was suggested that removing the sensor from the coolant bottle and cleaning the contacts may solve the issue. It seems to me that the sensor it's self is contained within the collant bottle making it impossible to remove the sensor. I removed the plug and cleaned the contactors to the sensor and plug contacts but the problem persists.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

My SE is starting to develop the same problem.

As you said, the sensor is contained within the coolant bottle, so cannot be removed to clean the contacts. I believe that the older Fabias use a slightly different part.

New bottle required for us - which I believe is about £12ish.

A new expansion tank is needed - about £14

Not a difficult job, but a bit fiddly trying to make sure you don't lose too much coolant.

Yes , the bottles are not that expensive , and does not take long to do

Just unscrew the cap slightly and you will loose less coolant

I did it on my fella`s Octy , didnt take long at all

Just make sure you do it when the engine is cold
