Ticking noise coming from Stereo area

Featured Replies

Hi, my parents have recently purchased a Skoda Octavia Elegance on an 05 plate. There is a strange ticking noise coming from behind the centre console area where the stereo and climate control are.

The noise can be heard when the ignition is turned and the car is off and also when the car is started. When the car is off there is no noise at all.

The nosie sounds like a clock ticking?. Any help would be much appreciated also any advice or warning for the car?. It is a 2.0 FSI.

Is it normal for the cars lights to come on when you unlock or lock the car?.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, mines got the same issue. Octavia 2006 1,9 TDI. Knocking noise from centre console not really that loud and not regular on mine but happens every time i get in and only happens when the key is in the ignition.

Well I get a little bit of noise when the car first starts and its definately the stereo computer loading tracks up from the mini SD card (its definately the same sound you get from a hard drive on a computer). Its not too loud or annoying and only lasts for a few seconds, but did puzzle me when I first heard it...

LOL since when did a solid state (fully electronic, absolutely NO moving parts) SD card make any noise whatsoever! The reason a hard drive makes a noise is it has a rotating multi platter disk with multiple read/write heads on a servo controlled arm (hence mechanical noise).

It's probably something completely different, but it definately ISN'T loading things from an SD card

Hi, thanks for getting back. Car has just been bought and it is going into get a few things done to it next week so I will get them to update the software etc. Access to a Vag com lead would be a bonus let me know if there is anything else up with the car.

Can the noise from behind the climate control be sorted with vag com or is it a dealer job?.

That seems to be the only thing i can tell is wrong with the car just the little ticking noise like a clock.

I am not too fussed about turning off the coming home function its actually a pretty good thing. If you are going to your car at night lets you see to get in.

How much are we talking for the climate control flaps to be software upgraded at a dealer?.
