Engine Oil

Featured Replies

I'm currently far away from any authorized Skoda/VAG dealer/mechanic and I need to top the engine oil before I make the trip back home.

According to the user manual the specs for my engine are:

1.6 ltr./75 kW - EU4, EU2 and uses oil graded VW 501 01, VW 502 00

What is the SAE equivalent to it?

Is there any conversion table?

I tried googling it and came out more confused than when I started so any help would be greatly appreciated. emoticon-0124-worried.gif

Try putting your VRN in on HERE and see what they use?

EDIT: Used a british vehicle with the same engine as yours and it says to use Castrol Edge 5w30 (fully synthetic). Hope this helps

Thanks skoda norm. It seems to be right, I found this equivalent oil list on a brazilian VW forum. The only ones available around here right now are the last two, so I'll be using one of them. Thanks a lot.

The VAG oil spec number should be on the oil container label, for example VW 502 . You should always check for this number on the container.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on that. emoticon-0148-yes.gif
