Scum

Hi Folks

Can anyone tell me how i replace the headlight washer unit on my wifes 08 octy .

Im forced to carryout this work as some scumbag in the Lake District where my wife was on holiday decided that they required the plastic cover for the headlight washer and instead of going to a dealer to pay the £5 or waiting and asking me for the money to replace their missing part took a screwdriver or similiar to my wifes car and removed it breaking the clips on the head of the washer jet and also taking a nick out of the bumper below the cover and on the moulding.

I hope whoever took it was happy with their prize but if they make as good a jod fitting it as they did removing it they will be looking for another one so beware.

My only hope is that one day they go back to their car and get repaid tenfold.

Anyway ive got the parts to repair but just need the help of true Skoda fans

Dont have them on mine mate but if someone hasnt answered by the time im home later il have a quick look on etka at the fitting for you.

As for the w4nk3r who decided to try and rob yours i hope he slips and puts a screwdriver through his nuts when/if he tries it again!

man their man or woman bits fall off with rot!

sorry to hear about it hope you get it sorted

The washer jets are forced out of the bumper by the pressure of the water.

If you can get your finger nails under the colour coded top cover you should just be able to gently pull them out.

The second image is from the Superb but the principle is the same on your Octavia.

I sincerely hope the scumbag t0553r has a crash in his bodge job motor (nobody else involved i crash of course) thieving really really reallyannoys me.

What a bizarre thing to steal!

I am shortly about to take delivery of a shiny new vRS with Xenons.

I'll go nuts if I catch anyone trying to steal my covers.

Sorry to hear this mate. Set up some trip wire near your car or put some crisps around it.

If you hear someone fall over the trip wire or the crisps get crunched during the night then go get em!

man.....that is 1 low low low scum bag!!!

next thing u know - he'll b stealing the tyre valve covers!!!

hope its an easy fix for u.

Hi Folks

Thanks to all who replied to my plea.

I went out and put put car into the garage this morning got the gloves on and opened the big red box of magic wands that sits in my garage and set about looking how to replace washer .

I removed headlight and thereafter removed plastic bracket that the headlight slots into this allows you to get at the metal bracket below .

This bracket is held in with 6 bolts both torx and spline all of which are positioned to be removed when the bumper is off although with a little fiddiling you can remove 5 of the bolts as one of them is within the bumper and can be seen through the hole that the washer head comes through although when you remove the other 5 bolts this allows you to move the bracket just enough to get into the bolts that hold the washer assembly inplace again these two bolts are torx.

The job took about 1 hour .

I know this is not the most riviting post but it shows that it can be done by the home mechanic.

Once again thanks for the help and comments

Regards Whoosh
