Windscreen washer prob?

Featured Replies

So my windscreen washers have run dry for the second time and no sign of a warning light to tell me I should be filling them up. Manual suggests I should get a warning and I also have maxi dot which tells me when I need diesel.

So do I have a malfunction or is this the way it is?

You only have washer warning if you have headlight washers and you'll only have headlight washers if you have Xenon's

or you could have a 4x4 or Scout without Xenons but with headlight washers - it's the latter that's the determining factor...

You only get the warning light if you have headlamp washers. Headlamp washers come as standard on Elegance, L&K, Scout and any model with Xenons. Anything other than that gets the smaller wash reservoir and no warning light.

1980's cars had a empty washer warning lights!!!

Not all of 'em!! I had several cars in the 80's that didn't though I had a 1977 Chrysler Alpine that did. It has always struck me as unnecessary penny pinching to leave it off Octavias but that is what they did.

Can the bigger reservoir with the warning light be retrofitted?

Cool. At least I don't have another gremlin to get sorted.

Seems odd though to not have this function. It's a rather basic oversight don't you think?

Could this be someone who does not carry out routine checks when filling up???
