Rear ARB on Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

I phoned Jabba the other day and Nick (who I was speaking to) mentioned that Eibach are bringing out an ARB kit for the Fabia, and that they can split the packages so I could just fit the rear ARB.

Apparently, he has done this on his MkIV golf and it's made it understeer less and more easy to balance cornering on the throttle.

Can I get some thoughts on this??? Sounds appealing as I'd like to make the handling of my fabia vrs more neutral, but could I get the same/similar effect through uprating the springs and dampers?

Dave

Sounds good to me, I just think it would foul up my ICE install. :( Rather have the tunes to be honest. :speaker:

scratch that, I've just found out these go under the car. :D

Methinks Jason thought the ARB was installed _in_ the boot....

Don't worry about it. I knew what you were thinking, just couldn't remember what it was called.... :D

Do you really need your rear bracing J :naughty:

My rear requires all the bracing it can possibly get. :) And the back end of my Fabia could do with something to stabilise it a little too.

Told you J too many sheep and you end up with a soggy rear end, (too much weight  ) To help with your car what about removing as much weight as you can from the boot might help it a little ;)

Dave[/quote'] Dave. Eibach only make a front ARB for the Fabia/Polo/A2/Ibiza platform at the moment. Fitting eibach springs and dampers will make the handling very neuteral. ive had some nice 4wheel drifts out of mine :D

also just an aside.. the Fabia eibach front arb (22mm - RS std is 20mm) costs around

From what Jabba told me, Eibach are soon to bring out a rear arb - apparently this makes quite a difference to the handling. I guess the price will be similar to the front. May be best to sort springs and dampers first and then make a decision after a month or so.

Dave[/quote']Yes.

as i say, ive got the eibach springs n dampers and am in two minds if i need any uprated arb at all. theres still a little bit of roll, but it makes the car more comfortable and settled when just pottering around town, i suspect a stiffer arb would mess this up. ill be interested if eibach do release a rear arb, especially if its ajustable like the octy RS item

Rear ARB for a Furby. They don't have a rear ARB

VAG dont fit rear arbs to any of their fwd cars. altho you can get them from 3rd party companys... im sure its only a matter of time before one is developed

They only list a front ARB. Also its not listed for the vRS.

The only difference between the non-vRS and vRS ARB is 2mm thickness. The Eibach one is thicker than both of them so there is only need for one style.

True only one style is needed but maybe the springs for the vrs were design without the need for a uprated ARB?

An arb will be effective regardless of the suspension setup fitted, as the eibach ones are trying to be fairly comfortable, there is still a bit of inital roll before the springs comress enough to react.. a arb will reduce this and make turn in much much sharper

TaviaRS has kw3 and uprated front n rear arbs.

Just to add, to fit the Front ARB the front sub frame needs to be dropped ( or something similar) so although it is only

From what Jabba were saying, the rear arb is due out shortly so I guess it won't be on the web site yet. They mentioned that they will have more info in a week or so...

I'll drop them a line in a few days and see what else I can find out. I would be interested to find out what kind of difference this would make to the handling though. Do you know any decent VW forums, as the chap at Jabba has a rear arb on his golf... there might be some more info on there???

Theres several on here who have front + rear arbs on thier Octys... someone will be along shortly :)

Basically a rear ARB will stiffen up the back end, which will increase grip at the back end, which will result in the car being more neutral when cornering (ie less roll and less understeer). A front ARB will stiffen up the front end, which will increase grip at the front end. With no rear ARB, this could potentially make the car tail happy.

Obviously, until someone tries it on the Fabia platform, this is just theory so it may well behave differently ;):D
