Rear ARB on Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Basically a rear ARB will stiffen up the back end' date=' which will increase grip at the back end, which will result in the car being more neutral when cornering (ie less roll and less understeer). A front ARB will stiffen up the front end, which will increase grip at the front end. With no rear ARB, this could potentially make the car tail happy.

Obviously, until someone tries it on the Fabia platform, this is just theory so it may well behave differently ;):D

An arb makes it easier to take the car to the limit of grip... but once you go past that limit  (think ColinD@anglesey)

What do you mean potentially? Mines tail happy as it is, and all I've got is the SEAT strut brace

One thing to watch in just fitting a rear ARB is that if it is thicker than the one on the front you will get very tail happy handling. A bit like a Capri or early 3 series Beemer. Fine if you know what you are doing and expect it but as we've heard of a few mishaps with Fabias on here just a warning to be careful out on the roads especially with such a set up. It may surprise a few people in the wet especially how quick the rear can step out after the initially superior feeling entry into a corner/roundabout.

Still on a lighter note - it's a cheap way to improving your handling without the discomfort of lowering springs!

 Well said... id rather have a touch of understeer rather than oversteer in a fwd car :D - no doubt ffelan will be along soon to call me a mincer

Potentially because it depends if you've uprated the suspension as this will reduce the rear's roll and increase the tyre contact with the road during cornering :D

Mincer! :P Although I'm dead the same! I'd rather take a kick in the balls than another episode of the sort of oversteer that led to my crash, and I suspect Xav's too. :D

Nope, my suspension is still standard. As is the rest of my car
