Droplink question

Featured Replies

I have just fitted koni shocks alongside my spax springs, ride it much improved, and the drop links fit like they did previously, however my question is, how do I know whether I need shortened droplinks or not?

I have had it noted on my MOT's as an 'advisory' since I fitted the springs, but can't find anything relevant regarding this...

anyone????

Depending on how low the new springs are, you may need shorter droplinks. Usually when turning the steering something will rub under there. Mine only does it on full left hand lock and I have -25mm. springs.

What dampers do you have? AFAICS on my STR.Ts, the lugs that the droplinks bolt onto are higher up the cylinder than on the standard shocks, meaning that the normal droplink can be used. Certainly, I've never had issues with knocking, and they've been on about a year now...

I have Konis as well. Why did the tester give you an 'Advisory' . Perhaps there is nothing wrong down there.

I've only fitted the Koni dampers yesterday, but on my origional shocks the advisory was rubbing on full lock I think. So its normal on full lock? or does that mean they need changing? btw its lowered around 40-45mm I think.

I want to lower my car 25mm, but don't want anything rubbing. Is the rubbing normal to all fabias or just a few?

Heard mondeo smaller ones fit. And I found some fancy fabia ones on ebay, but they were a little pricey

The lower you go the more "rubbing" you get and affects most Fabias.

You want to go back and ask what hes gibbering about. as i saw my friends last MOT had the all mighty advisory slip that said

'Car Lowered'

that was it.........

They are prob being over cautious and dont want to loose there test rights.
