MK2 Golf GTI

Featured Replies

Anybody know much about the MK2 Golf GTI 16V 2.0 Twinheadlights, do they compare to a Fabia VRS performance wise anybody had any experience with one?

Cant seem to find the spec on one..

2 litre? mk2s run a 1.8 16v or 8v stock specs escape me should imagine a 16v would give a fabia vrs a run for its money if stock

I had a 16v mk2, awesome car and loved to be revved.

Probably not much in it

Almost identical performance, would probably come down to the drivers. Ive driven one on a few occasions and like said it needs to be revved to get the most out of it, but its a good fun car and because of the lack of weight, it feels almost quicker than it is

mk2 golfs are great  i had 250bhp k04 and twas silly :giggle:

my mate still got his 16v and i love it, so retro with his 8x15 ats cups  cams n head and running iifc 180bhp

sounds great, goes great, handles great hehe and that 80/90s smell of unburnt fuel lol love it

in that form i wouldnt fancy the furbies chance, i dunno about a remapped furb but im still guessing it would want abit more than a map? :smirk:

in other tho didnt they start at 136bhp and a 8.1 to 60?

139 bhp/ 1000kgs vs 130bhp/wieght of a small planet, my golf is quicker than my 176bhp/346ft lbs fabia by quite a bit, plus when it sees a corner it goes round it, in terms of all round performance the golf rapes the vrs, but even the newest ones are getting on for 20 years old, they are great to drive but very expensive to run.

i love mk2 golfs still :giggle: 16v on throttle bodies are amazing and sound grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat

Me too, but i don't think i could run one as my only car, i definatly have to have a modern car for when i just can't be bothered
